London on 19/10/12 for Breast Cancer Campaign

Postby Christina Owen » Fri Aug 24, 2012 8:55 am

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick introduction, I'm Christina the new Student Fundraising Coordinator at Breast Cancer Campaign. I'm taking over from the lovely Hannah Shaw and organising the London wear it pink Megaraid taking place on Friday 19 October 2012.

It's back again for it's seventh year! Undergrounds, stations, City of London and Westminster, hope to see some of the regulars making an appearance for breast cancer awareness month.

We are staying at the Generator hostel again - let me know who wants to come. :D

Getting excited, can't wait to see you,

Christina

Can we get Canary Wharf on the last Wednesday of October?

Being a teacher now I can't make a term time weekday, but Wednesday 31st October is in half term!
Two miles more than four marathons. Please sponsor me!

I like to raise and give, and incite Tigger et al. to slap me.

Hello & Welcome Christina

I won't be around for the big WiP this year, but I will be in the UK during the week of 1 Oct - do you have any permits going then?

Hey! Thanks for the replies.

Big Dave - I will try and get Canary Wharf for Wednesday 31 October, can't promise anything but will try my best!

Alex - we have Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October in Newcastle if you can get up there? There aren't any students collecting on those days but we do have some of our regional volunteers collecting. Do you want to show 'em how it's done? Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Christina

Hey Big Dave, unfortunately London Underground aren't allowing collections between 27 October to 11 November. That is so annoying! We do have our Liverpool Megaraid on Saturday 24 November is you are interested in that?

Thanks,

Christina

Hmmm.... I will consult my travelling buddy. The current plan is to be in Oxford on Thursday 4 October - I will look into trains and such. I have never been to Newcastle. Could be fun! I'll keep you posted.

Hey Alex, thinking about it I'm not sure how good the Newcastle collection will be as the regional volunteer group who have the permit will be doing a variety of activities on that day so it's not really based around the collection as such. I don't want you to turn up and get roped into doing something else. Are you around any other time of year to join in a collection?

Mr J - We have requested Bank as obviously it's a hugely successful station :D . The Underground don't issue the permits until 1 month before and won't tell us which ones we have yet either. We are fingers crossed about the permit for Bank and we handed the application forms in last December! I will contact you when I have the permit in my hand, is that ok?

Hope you enjoyed the weekend,

Thanks,

Christina

Well, if I turn up to help with the event, I wouldn't necessarily mind being roped in to stuff. On the other hand, it's a long way to go just for the day and without knowing anyone etc, so this will have to be a "no, thanks" this time.

Unfortunately (ish) I'm based abroad these days and I won't be back in the UK for a few months at least.

I think that is a good call Alex. Living abroad, how wonderful!

I'll keep you in the loop with any further raids. Thanks!
